REDSKIN A 500 YEAR HATE CRIME, 20 minutes run time, which graphically shows how the imagery of ridiculing Native Americans and other minorities is entwined in the history of mainstream European American culture. The genocide of Native Americans through the concept of "REDSKIN" is connected to the common history of American racist imagery and culture.
REDSKIN A 500 YEAR HATE CRIME, is being used in educational presentations throughout the United States to effectively reveal the history of racial and religious hatred behind the term Redskin Indians and clearly shows the harm brought by ridiculing minorities. It is appropriate for adults and children in middle school or older.

unflinchingly explains through the medium of song, film, still photography and spoken words, the engine of hatred in racial and religious prejudice. You will understand this cycle of destruction by viewing images, traditions and
the casualties which have risen out of it.Reverend Goat Carson explains the skinning of redskins for pants and bridles as boasted about by Andrew Jackson. The massacre and mutilation of little boys and girls at SAND CREEK by Reverend Chivington.
Common cultural events, symbols and traditions performed to influence young people while in school are referenced from both Nazi Germany and contemporary American school events.

The reasons why "redskins" remains a hurtful and hatefilled American tradition are clarified.
What white culture has not taught children about American history is exposed.
This video presents imagery that shows how Americans demand that Native Americans submit to the role of mascot race through reinvention of their history, religions and cultures.
Comparisons are made to similar treatment suffered by Jews and African Americans.
About the contributors:
ROBERT GATEWOOD of AFAMERICA has joined with American Comments Magazine a Kansas-based organization run by Matthew Richter, a Native American. "If you dont have a problem with the name Redskin, I would rather think that you are unenlightened", writes Gatewood. Robert Gatewood is on a mission to eliminate the word Redskin from the name of the most profitable football franchise in the country. According to Gatewood, "the name is extremely insensitive. Its bad enough that our country nearly exterminated an entire race of people (Native Americans), but it is a national disgrace that, for our amusement and enrichment, we walk on the graves of the dead, and demoralize their descendants by mocking them through derogatory mascots and nicknames".Gatewood concludes, "I am receiving no monetary compensation for my efforts. I am here for those who want to do more but don't have the time. The name will change, and our contributors will feel an enormous sense of pride in knowing that they played a role in bringing down a symbol of hate in the nation's capitol and in other parts of the country."
REVEREND GOAT CARSON; Internationally recognized for his music, Reverend Goat lives and works in New Orleans, Louisiana. His blues composition, "REDSKINS" is spoken, sung and backed up by his trademark bottleneck guitar. Telling it like it is Reverend Goat cuts through the barriers created by America's history books. "REDSKINS" makes human beings out of the Indian children and elders who were mutilated and skinned for their religious and racial heritage.
Today's boys and girls are still called by the same hate name their ancestors were called by their murderers, REDSKINS. With skill and grace through these graphic minutes of storytelling, little Indian children and their families, are suddenly understood to be part of the same humanity that mainstream children enjoy every day.
Working in his own warm and personal style, Reverend Carson has spoken out on the issues of religious freedom and human rights for Native Americans. You can hear him in:
MY LIFE IS MY SUN DANCE- Prison Writings of Leonard Peltier through the Voice of Harvey Arden and the Music of Reverend Goat & New Orleans Light. Mi Abuelo Records.
SIMMERIN'- CD featuring "Redskins" and the gripping cut, "Mystery of Woman" on the Mi Abuelo Records label.
